KUALA SELANGOR & FIREFLY CRUISE

Sunset and magic amid rivers and fireflies

6 hr
50 euros
Kuala Lumpur

Service Description

Departure towards the town of Kuala Selangor, to the peaceful village of Kampung Kuantan, considered one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. Upon arrival, visit Kota Melawati, formerly known as Fort Altingsburg: here you can see the execution block, the royal mausoleum, and several colonial-era buildings dating back to the Dutch period and later. At the foot of Bukit Melawati, there is also a small bird sanctuary, ideal for birdwatching, where migratory species can be observed. You may also encounter silvered-leaf monkeys, butterflies, and other local wildlife. The tour then continues to Kampung Kuantan, the heart of the experience. Aboard a small non-motorized boat (tongkang) piloted by skilled local rowers, you silently glide through the calm night. The trees lining the mangrove swamp are illuminated by the sparkling display of thousands of fireflies, synchronizing to create rhythmic flashes, transforming the landscape into a scene reminiscent of Christmas trees pulsating with light. The evening concludes with a simple dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a return to the hotel.
