FULL DAY HISTORICAL MALACCA WALKING TOUR
A total immersion in the historical charm of Malacca
Service Description
8:30 a.m. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby and depart for the historic city of Malacca, rich in temples, markets, and mosques. (Travel time: approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes) The city center preserves historic buildings that earned the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2008. The tour begins with a scenic boat ride on the Melaka River, reaching the city center and Clock Square with the Dutch-style Stadhuys (Town Hall). We then ascend St. Paul's Hill to the ruins of St. Paul's Church, concluding the city tour at the Porta de Santiago, the only remaining vestige of the last bastion of the ancient Portuguese fortress "A Famosa," destroyed by the British. From here, we continue along Harmony Street, so named because the temples of the region's major religions coexist peacefully here. We will then visit the ancient Chinese Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the Kampung Kling Mosque. Enjoy a local-style lunch in the city. Stroll along Jonker Street, the main street of the old city center with its ornate buildings, and then visit the Baba Nyonya House Museum, an ancient residence of one of the Chinese clans who made their fortune here through trade. (NOTE: The museum is currently closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays.) Return to Kuala Lumpur in the early afternoon.
